Day 1 - Arrival to SJO airport.

Meet & greet and transfer to Grano de Oro Hotel (superior room). Grano de Oro is considered one of the nicest boutique hotels in downtown San Jose.

Day 2

Private transfer to Turrialba Valley visiting Irazu Volcano on the way.

Breakfast included. Overnight accommodations at Casa Turire Hotel.(std room). Located in the countryside and surrounded by sugar cane plantations and green mountains, Casa Turire offers a relaxing and cozy atmosphere and a great location to explore the valley of Turrialba.

Day 3

Whitewater rafting at Pacuare River (Class III & IV rapids). Because its lush rainforests and exotic wildlife that surround it, Pacuare has been named one of the top 10 river trips in the world by National Geographic. Pacuare is also considered one of the nicest rivers to practice rafting. Today you will enjoy an exciting 1-1½ hour river rafting tour to the Pacuare Lodge, where you will enjoy a two night stay at Costa Rica’s premier eco-lodge. After lunch participate in an optional canopy tour (not included in package price) or waterfall hike, or simply relax in your private bungalow. After a candlelight dinner, visit the upstairs lounge for a cocktail before retiring to a restful night’s sleep.

Day 4

You’ll wake up to bird song and the soothing sound of the river nearby. Then head over to the main lodge for a delicious breakfast of home-made bread, tropical fruits, yogurt, eggs, pancakes, cereal, juice and coffee. The lodge employs a resident naturalist guide who will provide you with unique insights into the plant and animal world. After breakfast you will take a guided hiking tour through the emerald rainforest visiting the beautiful Pacuare Waterfall. Free afternoon to rest or to take an optional tour.

Day 5

Early in the morning transfer back to the main road by four-wheel-drive and then by regular transportation, where you will join the bus excursion to Tortuguero. Upon arrival to Caño Blanco port, you will continue your trip aboard a comfortable boat navigating along the beautiful Tortuguero Canals. Tortuguero, whose access is possible by boat or air only, offers a combination of tropical rain forest with coastline vegetation, mangrove swamps, and lagoons as well as sheltering a fabulous array of wildlife, including over 300 bird species, 50 kinds of fish and around 160 mammals. This is one of the most important nesting sites in the world for the green sea turtle, which finds its way onto the brown-sand beaches every year from June to October. After lunch, we will visit the Turtle Museum, the beach area, and the small picturesque town of Tortuguero.

Day 6

Guided boat tour through the secondary canals. Free time in the afternoon for optional activities. During the nesting season (from July to October) it is possible to book optional night tours to the beach, where you will have the opportunity to see turtles laying eggs.

Day 7

After breakfast return by boat to Caño Blanco for a land transfer back to San José. Lunch on the way.
