Depart early to Chichicastenango, the largest and most colorful handicrafts market in The Americas. Every Thursday and Sunday, Mayan people from all over Guatemala meet to sell their products and visit the town’s Catholic Church, Santo Tomas. Here they pray in their own way becoming the best example of syncretism of the Mayan and Catholic traditions.

Accommodations: Atitlan Hotel
Included Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Day 3 - Solola & Lake Atitlan

Transfer to Lake Atitlan, visiting en route the indigenous market of Solola, a market that provides an interesting contrast with the one from the day before, because it is a market of the Maya people for themselves with very few tourists around.

Accommodations: Atitlan Hotel
Included Meals: Breakfast

Day 4 - Lake Atitlan

An interesting geological formation, Atitlan is a lake of volcanic origin, located at 5,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by 3 imposing volcanoes in the heart of the Living Maya culture. Boat tour to visit Santiago Atitlan, a town famous for naïf paintings and wood carvings. Afternoon transfer to Antigua for overnight accommodations.

Day 5 - Antigua

Antigua is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the incredibly preserved Spanish Colonial heritage. Founded in 1542, it was the Capital of Central America for more than 200 years. Morning visit to its most important palaces, plazas, churches and convents. Free afternoon.

Accommodations: Camino Real Antigua Hotel
Included Meals: Breakfast

Day 6 - Pacaya Volcano & Spa

Accommodations: Camino Real Tikal Hotel
Included Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Day 7 - Tikal & Ixpanpajul

Visit Tikal accompanied by an expert Mayan guide and explore the magnificent achievements of these fascinating ancient people. At its height, Tikal was home to over 100,000 Mayans and was a cultural and political center. It becomes easy to imagine life in the city as you explore temples, plazas, multi leveled palaces, ball courts and living areas. Howler and Spider monkeys, coatamundi, are commonly seen while the elusive jaguar and ocelot are known to survive in this protected rainforest reserve as well. Almost 300 species of birds have been identified in Tikal including toucans, motmots, trogons and many different parrots. In the afternoon transfer to the Ixpanpajul Park – www.ixpanpajul.com where you will hike the Sky Way that brings you above the canopy using hanging bridges.
