100 Year Canal Opening Celebration Trip
August 12-17, 2014

• Upon arrival clear customs and immigration then meet and greet your representative at the Tocumen International Airport for transfer to your Hotel

• Panama City tour – visit Panama Viejo to see the new restored Church Tower and fortress then head out to the Reprosa Factory. From there we will head through Panama City to Casco Antiguo. Here you will enjoy a walking tour of this UNESCO site with a nice lunch at a café in one of the parks.

• 9:00 A.M. – head via bus to the Atlantic side – We will start with the Portobelo area to see the ruins and the Church with the Black Christ. Then head into the former Canal Zone townships and tour the canal expansion and Gatun Locks area. We will also visit Cristobal High School, the Washington Hotel, and various other sites.

• Take the train back to the Pacific side then transfer into hotel.
• Tonight is a free night on your own

• Canal area tour with celebration event at Miraflores Locks - we will visit the old home sites in the morning and arrive to Miraflores Locks for a wonderful lunch while overlooking the Locks.

• Today you can head to the beach, Boquete, Bocas, El Valle, San Blas, Gamboa or just enjoy a free day. - – see available extension packages below

• Those that didn’t will be transferred to Tocumen for their international flight home.

• Extension option #1 – Panama Beaches – 3 nights
  August 16-19 – You will be transferred to the new Royalton Plantation Resort & Spa. This 5 star resort offers VIP Service to all guests. Overlooking the pristine white sand beaches of Panama’s Pacific Coast, Royalton combines chic contemporary style with residential sophistication and exclusive entertainment. A tropical oasis that offers a superb alternative to the usual beach resort. If you prefer to have a rental car we can assist with those arrangements to give you flexibility while at the hotel.
• Extension Option #2 – Boquete – 3 nights +1 in Panama City
  August 16-20 - Transfer to Albrook airfield for your 1 hour flight to David. There you will be met and transferred to Valle Escondido in Boquete. Spend 3 nights in this “hidden valley” secluded by the jungle-covered resort walls over 100 meters from the valley floor. A beautiful river meanders through the lush vegetation of the property. The Resort features 16th century Spanish pueblo design with tiled roofs and baked brick walkways. Your final night will be spent back in Panama City so you can make your International connection.
• Extension Option #3 – Bocas Del Toro – 3 nights +1 in Panama City
  August 16-20 – Transfer to Albrook airfield for your flight to Bocas Del Toro. On arrival transfer into the Hotel Palma Royale. This hotel's location is convenient to the town as well as access to their dock so you can explore the island's many eco friendly spots. You can also snorkel, dive & fish. The dining options in the town of Bocas will give you many international flavors due to the diverse cultures that have settled this area. On August 18 you will fly back to Panama City for your final night.
• Extension Option #4 – San Blas – 1 night +1 in Panama City
  August 16-18 – Transfer to Albrook airfield for your early morning flight to San Blas. You will spend 2 nights in a rustic cabin on an Island in the Archipelago of Panama with the Kuna Indians. Visit the islands for their wonderful Molas and enjoy an opportunity to snorkel in the crystal clear waters. Fly back to Panama City on the 18th for your final night in Panama City.
• Extension Option #5 – Gamboa – 3 nights
  August 16-19 – Transfer around lunch time to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. Enjoy your 3 nights in this luxury hotel located on the banks of the Chagres River. Gamboa offers you many eco opportunities including the Aerial tram, day trip to Embera Indian Village, Jungle Boat tour and more. We can assist you with bookings for these day tours and activities.
• Extension Option #6 – El Valle – 2 nights +1 in Panama City
  August 16-19 – Pick up your rental car (not included in price) and self drive the inter-American highway then up into the mountains of Panama to El Valle. You will be met by the beautiful greenery in this picturesque town. Head to Los Mandarinos Hotel for check in around 3:00pm. Enjoy your 2 nights relaxing in El Valle or add some adventure by experiencing the Canopy Adventure. On Sunday morning visit the Indian Market to pick up those great crafts made by the Artisans. Head back to Panama City for your final night – return rental car and overnight accommodations in Panama City. (option- if you prefer not to use a rental we can arrange the ground transfers for an additional cost)
• Extension Option #7 – 3-nights Summit Hotel and Golf
  August 16-19 – Pick up your rental car (not in price) and self drive to the Radisson Summit Golf Resort. Enjoy 2 rounds of golf on the beautiful 18 hole course. This new hotel offers beautiful rainforest views, a lovely pool, and plenty of nature watching each day. With your rental you can explore other areas of the rainforest including a trip out to Gamboa.
