Panama Indigenous People and Ruins

Enjoy the regional culture and enchantment of native life in Panama. This package provides you with an up close and personal opportunity to experience the lives and culture of the Embera and Kuna Indians as they invite you into their villages, marketplace, and the historical Portobelo Ruins and Fort San Lorenzo.

Accommodations include oceanside rooms at Country Inn Amador where you can relax seaside and recharge.

Day 1 Arrival To Panama

  • Arrival to Panama. Meet and greet at the International Airport and transfer to Country Inn Amador.
  • Accommodation: Oceanside rooms, Country Inn Amador
 

Day 2 Embera Indians

  • Breakfast included.
  • Embera Indian Village - Full day tour from 8:30-4:00. Includes transportation from hotel to the Piragua (dug out canoe) put in point. Transfer up the Chagres river to spend 1/2 day with an Embera Indian Village tribe. You will enjoy sharing their culture with dance and lunch. You can shop for their arts and crafts. Following lunch you will go to a waterfall for a swim then return by boat to the bus and back to your hotel.
  • Dinner on your own.
  • Accommodation at Country Inn.
 

Day 3 San Blas Islands and Kuna Indians

  • 4:30 am early check out for transfer to Albrook Airfield (Do not check out of your room for you will keep your hotel room overnight while gone)
  • Flight to San Blas.
  • All meals and island tour included. Visit several different islands to experience the Kuna Indians and their lifestyles. You will have a chance to purchase the colorful Molas while visiting the different tribes. Take note of their rustic lifestyles and the matriarchal society observed on the islands by the Kuna Indians.
 

Day 4 Panama Canal and City Tour

  • Flight back to Panama City and return to hotel to shower and clean up.
  • 10:00-5:00 Full-day Panama Canal and City Tour with stops at Panama Viejo, Casco Antiguo, Church of the Golden Altar then lunch at Miraflores and visit to museum and visitor center to watch a ship transit.
  • 7:30 PM pickup by Recontur for dinner and a show at Las Tinajas. Here you will enjoy a typical Panamanian dinner followed by a show with typical Panamanian dancers. Includes transportation, meal and a show.
  • Accommodations: Country Inn - Amador
 

Day 5 Atlantic Side Tour

  • Breakfast at Country Inn.
  • Atlantic Side Tour - 8:30 am departure to the Atlantic side by bus. On your tour you will visit the ruins at Portobelo and the ruins at Ft. San Lorenzo. As time permits, head through Gatun and the Gatun Locks visitor center. Lunch included.
  • Accommodations: Country Inn Amador.
 

Day 6 El Valle Tour

  • Breakfast at Country Inn.
  • 8:00 AM pick up by Recontur for the El Valle Tour, full-day departing at 8:00am returning at 4:00pm. In the Anton Valley lies a picturesque village that harbors a crafts market with a diverse offering of flowers, fruits and vegetables, as well as crafts handmade by the villagers themselves. You’ll visit the El Chorro Macho Waterfall, where you will walk through the tropical rain forest. At the zoo and botanical garden, El Nispero, you’ll become familiarized with the flora and fauna endemic to this region. You could also see the ‘golden frog’ among other species. Lunch included.
  • Despedida dinner - Final night dinner at a restaurant in Panama City.
  • Accommodations: Country Inn Amador.
 

Day 7 Depart Panama or Add-On Options (AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST)

  • Breakfast included depending on flight time.
  • Transfer to Tocumen.

  • A $5 tourist card must be bought from the airline on departure from the United States or in Panama upon arrival.
  • You will be asked to complete a “reservation” form, “terms and conditions” form, as well as “Acknowledgment of Insurance”.
