Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive to Panama, and meet at the International Airport in Panama and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

- You will start your day with a visit to the ruins of Panama’s first capital, known as Old Panama or Panama La Vieja.

- You will see the ruins of the Spanish fortress, the cathedral and the Bishop’s House, as well as a museum detailing what life was like in Old Panama.

- Next, you will travel to Casco Antiguo, the Colonial City.

- Here you will do a walking tour which includes a visit to the Church of San Jose. Within this small, plain church resides the stunning Golden Altar (the Altar de Oro), carved of wood and covered with gold flake.

- You will next head through the former “Canal Zone” to see the Miraflores Locks visitor center. This includes the entrance to the Museum, a movie on the new canal, and access to the viewing locations.

- From the observation deck, you can watch as ships cross the Panama Canal, and the fascinating process as they pass through the lock.

Day 3

- You will be transferred to the pier for a partial Canal transit. You will board a vessel that will take you through Miraflores Locks, Pedro Miguel Locks, and Gaillard Cut.

- You will disembark at Gamboa Pier and be transferred by bus back to Flamenco Pier. Here you will meet your representative for transportation back to the hotel.

- Your dinner will be followed by a show about Panamanian folklore and local dances.

Day 4

Today you can choose from 2 tour options:

**See tour descriptions below itinerary.**

Day 5

Transfer to the airport for your flight.

- You will be transferred from your hotel to the shores of the Chagres River, where you will board a Piragua (dug-out canoe), and travel a short ride up river accompanied by an Embera guide.

- When you arrive at their community, you will be welcomed by tribal members dressed in their traditional clothing and escorted past their huts and into the community area.

- The chief of the village will teach you about the history of the tribe, their origins, and their lifestyle.

- The Embera will gladly demonstrate their native dances, their beautiful craftwork, and their cooking skills.

- You can also short hike over rocky terrain to a crystal clear waterfall for a refreshing swim, and then return by boat to the bus and back to your hotel.

- Transfer to El Valle, once there you will be able to experience much that this beautiful town has to offer. You will visit the crafts market, which has a diverse offering of flowers, fruits, and vegetables, as well as crafts handmade by the villagers themselves.

- You will also enjoy a walk through the rainforest for a visit to the El Chorro Macho Waterfall (The Male Waterfall).

- No trip to El Valle would be complete without a visit to the Butterfly Haven.
