Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive to Santiago and transfer into your hotel

Santiago City tour with Hill

This entertaining half day tour consists in visiting the main attractions of Santiago, the country’s most important cultural, cosmopolitan and artistic hub. We start out with a visit to the highpoints of the city’s civic center, being on the road with the Cerro San Cristobal and Cerro Santa Lucías (emblematic urban parks located in the heart of the city), the La Moneda Palace (presidential offices) and the traditional Plaza de Armas square, a meeting place for Santiago’s diverse and multicultural expressions. Buildings of historical value can be found in the neighborhood, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, National Museum of History and Central Post Office. We later walk through the Parque Forestal, a park running parallel to the Mapocho river with a variety of tree species offering a refreshing break from the urban agitation of the city’s center, and continue on to Barrio Bellavista, Santiago’s bohemian neighborhood, with some of the best bars and restaurants in the city. Return to hotel.

Day 2

Full Day Viña del Mar & Valparaiso / English Guide

Morning departure to enjoy a delightful visit to two cities located on the Pacific coast that is just one hour and half by car from Santiago. Our drive will take you through Casablanca; known for its fine vineyards where we can take a break for a wine-tasting experience (the latter is only available for private tours). Once we arrive to the coast, we’ll first visit Viña del Mar, also known as the “Garden City” because of its beautiful beaches, lovely parks and flower garden landscapes (such as the famous flower clock). It has become one of the central region’s most important tourism attractions. The peaceful seascape is an attractive complement for the city’s modern streets and infrastructure, turning it into an entertaining hub in constant movement. Our second destination is the picturesque city-port of Valparaiso, founded in the 16th century. You’ll marvel at the contrast between both cities, as the stylishness and beach culture of Viña is replaced here by a much more popular and artistic style. The port was declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site in 2003 and offers a unique and fascinating architectural adventure. Built on several steep hills above the port, the homes and buildings on the hillsides can be reached by walking along its streets, climbing the long stairs or take the cable cars built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Colorful homes dot the hills forming an irresistible landscape for photo enthusiasts and lovers of traditional sites. Lunch included followed by Aromas Tour at Casas del Bosque Vineyards

Half Day tour of Temuco

The city of Temuco is the capital of the Araucania Region. The term “Temuco” means “Temu Water”, Temu is a medicinal tree whose leaves have been used for centuries by the Mapuche aboriginal people to make herbal infusions. On this city tour, we see some of the most important and breathtaking places in what in the old days was called “The Araucania Kingdom”. The locations we visit are very picturesque and they play an important role in the traditions of the city. Firstly, we stop by the “Municipal Market”, in this place you can find different types of artisanship, such as woolens, wooden handicrafts, Mapuche traditional musical instruments, looms and typical local food as well. The market showcases local people`s everyday life. Secondly, we visit the Ñielol Hill, a place of historical importance because of some archaeological remains that were found in the past. These remains include ceramics, funerary urns among other objects related to the Mapuche culture. The Ñielol Hill is also of cultural and historical importance, since a symbolic tree known as “La Patagua del Armisticio”or “The Patagua Peace Tree” was planted there in remembrance of some events that took place in the Araucania such as Chilean – Mapuche Parliaments, The Spanish Conquest, The Pacification of the Araucania, and its integration into the Chilean Republic. This site was used as a refuge and as a resistance spot by the Mapuche. Later, we visit the Araucania Regional Museum, institution which preserves the historical and cultural heritage of the region. There are several exhibitions on this interesting museum, such as a photographic exhibition in the park, the story of the Thiers Housea and, mapuche silvercraft in the "Sueños Del Rütrafe" exhibition. At the Araucania Regional Museum you have the opportunity to travel back in time and see how life was in the past starting from the period of time when hunters and gatherers inhabited these lands until more recent times when the first settlers came to this area. Lastly, we visit the “Chol-Chol Foundation Gift Shop”, which is a non-profit, fair trade organization that works with Mapuche women and offers handmade top-quality textiles and weavings. Return to the hotel.
