Day 01 Arrival in San Jose – Transfer to your hotel

Day 02 Transfer to SJO Domestic Terminal – Flight to Puerto Jimenez – Playa Cativo Lodge

(B,L,D) Private transfer to San Jose Airport Domestic Terminal to take a flight (50-min duration) to Puerto Jimenez in the Osa Peninsula. Once in Puerto Jimenez, you will be met by the staff of Playa Cativo Lodge for a final boat transfer to the lodge (30 min). Once at Playa Cativo Lodge, the staff will get you checked in and provide an eco-lodge orientation: what to do/not to do, outline tours and activities, explain ecotourism’s sustainable practices and answer questions. Day 03 Dolphins & Whales Tour in the Golfo Dulce

(B,L,D) Today you will enjoy one of the most popular excursions in the area when you will take a Dolphin & Whale Tour in the Golfo Dulce. Golfo Dulce is one of only four tropical fiords around the world, and home to a variety of marine life forms, including the cetaceans. Two species of dolphins spend their whole life cycles in Golfo Dulce, and between August and November it's possible to witness the arrival of the Humpback whales and their calves. Day 04 Cativo’s Nature Reserve Hike

(B,L,D) Enjoy an interested 3.5-hour guided hike at Cativo’s Nature Reserve. With the beauty and convenience of the adjacent National Park, Playa Cativo guests don’t have to go far to see nature. Parts of this nature hike are rugged and steep due to its characteristic topography. The flora and fauna of the surrounding areas near Piedras Blancas is one of the most diverse in Central America; learn about the ecology of the tropical lowland rainforest, experiencing different vegetation units. Day 05 Day at Leisure

Day 06 Domestic Flight to San Jose – Transfer to the Arenal Volcano

(B) Morning transfer to Puerto Jimenez Airstrip to take a 50-minute domestic flight to San Jose Airport. Once there, private transfer to the Arenal Volcano, located around a 3-hour drive. Check in at Amor Arenal Hotel and balance of the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities and the impressive volcano views. Day 07 Safari Floating Tour at Peñas Blancas River

(B) This morning you will experience the beautiful flora and fauna native to Costa Rica, as you take an interesting safari boat tour along the Peñas Blancas River. This completely relaxing float trip takes you on the beautiful Río Peñas Blancas where you are bound to spot tropical birds such as Oropenolas, Tucans, Kingfishers, as well as, monkeys, poison dart frogs, caimans, and more! This exuberant river is only 30 minutes from La Fortuna and teaming with wildlife. You will travel on this informative boat tour near the Arenal Volcano with your naturalist guide to the entrance of the river and board an inflatable raft along the banks of the Peñas Blancas River. Your guide will do all the work and paddle along this easy-going river, pointing out the Costa Rican wildlife along the way. Day 08 Guided Walk at the Base of the Arenal Volcano

(B) This morning you will enjoy a guided nature leisurely walk at the base of the Arenal Volcano. The majestic Arenal Volcano constitutes the main attraction in this northern region. Its perfect-formed cone impress visitors from all over the world. You will have the chance to walk along the base of this dormant volcano, explore its tropical forest and observe the petrified lava flows produced by the Arenal during its most active eruption periods.
